VHF yagi balun (1 reply and 2 comments)
Yagi's don't normally need impedance matching baluns, but a 1:1 balun isolates the feed line / coax from the antenna to prevent the coax being used as part of the antenna and causing SWR issues
so a 1:1 current balun will help

Thanks Peter, much appreciated!
You may need a Balun, depends what the driven element is and how the yagi is matched, what is the make?, some folded dipoles need a balun, DK7ZB style yagis need a 28 ohm match, you need to know the make and how the Driven element is setup, to say you dont need a impedence balun is wrong, as it depends entirely on what the driven element is.

Hello all. I have a VHF yagi that was gifted to me. The box containing the balun was knackered and the guts had corroded so I have replaced the box but I am struggling to find a concrete answer on the best balun. Most seem to suggest a 1:1 but there are contradicting answers. Can anyone help?
