Galleywood Field Event 06 May 2018

Thanks to those who attended the seventh Essex Ham field day of the year – another impromptu field day / how-to session at the popular Galleywood Common venue.

The field afternoon took place on Sunday the 6th of May 2018 – it was another sunny day, and a good number of people turned up to play radio.

We were joined by Gary 2E0YRG and Jo M6JOZ from Chatham, Kent, operating QRP from their FT-857.

Also along was Andrew, who’s studying for his Foundation with the help of Essex Ham’s online course. Under supervision, we let him send out a few messages using Essex Ham’s club callsign

We were quite active on 2m – HF wasn’t great sadly, but we kept 2m active, and even tried some 2m FT, just to demo how the mode works to some who’ve not tried it before.

The worst bit of any field event – the de-rig:

How many hams does it take to de-rig a tent? (Colin "Supervising")

A great day – and as always, good to catch up with some familiar and friendly faces.
