On this page, you’ll find a quick summary of who joined this week’s net, and what was discussed.

Topics for the evening, as follows:

Rachel chaired the net with a very sore croaky throat and didn’t know if she could stay on or not, but managed to get through the night with a voice that got better as time went on. Dorothy had a very exciting week of radio, with only 1 day not on the air ( well done Dorothy ). The new Syllabus for 2019 was touched on very briefly, with only a few comments passed especially on the operating practices and procedure.

David made us laugh when he told us of his operating at Langdon hills when his table collapsed while he was operating his radio but kept going until he had finished the QSO (such dedication for the hobby, well done David). Thurrock Acorns night on the air was also mentioned with a B-B-Q outside on Tuesday. Simone from Cambridge also came on the net and was very nice to have her join us for the first time. Also Congrats to Nick M6XTN on gaining his licence and joining us on-air for the first of many nets I hope. The YL nets run by Dorothy was also mentioned with trying to get more YL’s on the air.

My thanks to Pete for allowing me to chair the net, and standing by in case I had to give up due to my croakiness

A quick reminder that participants shouldn’t be making on-air references to any QRM, not addressing anyone who doesn’t hold an amateur radio licence. Feel free to log it using the Essex Ham QRM log though. Also, in the interests of being fair to all participants, please try to keep overs to under 2 minutes, and just one over per round (it’s the thing people complain about most often!)
