Hello all my first posting so here goes. I am quite new to amatuer radio although have dabbled with WSPR PSK many moons ago with very minimal setups. After a long break i have started up again, my experience is very limited hence joining Essex Ham. So i have purchased a Xiegu x6001 and have a loop antenna with MFJ-9232, currently i have a 27-28ft loop ( well un-defined shape in the loft ) and have been performing some CW on the 40m band. To my surprise i have managed to be heard as far away as Finland as reported on the RBN network, after getting the SWR sorted on my antenna using the 6100 SWR scan feature (it actually works). I have a CW modem "morse magic from G4CST" which is working quite well. My first question is its obvious the RBN database doesn't know my maidenhead locator address, so it places me in the UK centrally. Do i need to register on QRZ.com for the RBN to source my exact location ? . Any help appreciated, also do you setup group calls as i am not having any luck with voice on 40M SSB at present ( i can hear many conversations ) so wondering if its just that no-one is listening. Looking forward to getting involved, i am not in essex "forest of dean Lydney" my antenna orientation and site of view i think would make direct contact to the essex region feasible i think.
