Baofeng DM- 5R digital radio (3 replies and 1 comment)
it would need to be the recent Baofeng DM-5R V3 to work properly with repeaters.
Personally I would say don't go for anything cheaper than AnyTone or Alinco,
I'm not going to be wasting any more money on the ultra-cheap brands,
even if they get the hardware correct the software tends to be bad.
And for DMR, software is a major part of it, you can't always fully programme them from the radio itself.
Hi Malcolm, thanks for the reply. The ad does say it is the updated version but not knowing what the previous version was like it's hard to judge.I did read on the DMR.NET forum that the set was no good on repeaters, but whether that was the earlier version i don't know.Seems it might only be useful on the simples frequencies.
Hi Rachel,
You have probably looked here..,

This is a great resource for import radios and modes.
Good luck,
Thank you Ellis, very helpful

Hi all, just wondered if anyone has owned or used one of these radios and what the reception was like on them. I have just bought one to dip my toes into dmr so to speak. I have also just read on a dmr site that this radio is not suitable for use on dmr repeaters as it uses both slots. Is this true? I don't have a lot of cash and can't afford to throw good money down the drain.
Any info appreciated
