Thierry (ON2ACO) and I managed to use FT4 on linear sats (RS-44, CAS4B & A, XW2.,...) with the IC-9700 from Icom.
We used the video from NU1U on Youtube which gives a good step by step 'how-to'.
See: "IC 9700 using SatPC32 and WSJT X"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhfUSRUP910&t=3s

Thierry and I didn't use SatPC32 but the S.A.T. controller from http://csntechnologies.net/sat

For configuring the RX instance from WSJT-X, also the article from GM4FVM on using multiple instance was very helpfull in setting up the soundcard properly in WSJT-X !
See:

We are available for making QSO's with other stations!

its an interesting concept, FT4 is a short duration data mode (7.5 sec / cycle) and due to 50hz channel width it could allow more people to have QSO's at same time and so could make more efficient use of the satellite

and with FT4 / 8 able to copy signals at far lower signal / noise ratio than voice potentially copying signals lower on the horizon so longer distances could be achieved as well

i have been trying for a while to get satpc32 to control my FT-991a for a while without success, this might make me have another go]

Hi Pete,

On the morning of the 20/08/21 EA2Z finally made his first qso FT4 via RS44 with ON2ACO…
Working with one transceiver FT857 in split mode vertical antenna on the roof and manual Doppler adjustment.

The same day I also worked EA2Z. we both used the Diamond V-2000 vertical and now Juan used SATPC32 for doppler...
On my 5element LPDA antenna I had 'desensing' when using RS-44... 145Mhz * 3 = (+/-) 435Mhz, so that's the reason that I used my V-2000 For this QSO on RS-44.

You can also use the IC-705 (or any other transceiver) + SDR stick
See how SM0GTU has managed this at:
https://amsat-uk.org/2021/08/15/guide-to-using-ft4-on-satellites/

On 21/08/21 ON2ACO worked A65BR on RS44. But he has full steerable sat-antennas availeble...

We are available for making QSO's with other stations!
