ParticipantHi Pete,
I’ve just finished the extra test questions (thank you), ready for my big day tomorrow! One question that baffled me. Although the answer is given below, I can’t see where satellite gets to mention in the license parameters. ????
————-
Which frequency is available to Foundation, primarily for amateur radio use and in a band range available for satellite communications?3.510MHz
10.100MHz
14.260MHz
29.100MHzThe answer is in the 4-page exam booklet. In the “Foundation Licence Parameters” table, 28.000MHz to 29.700MHz is the only one with “Primary” in both columns
Thanks in advance

KeymasterHi Dave,
You need to look at page 2, column 3 of thr Parameters table, which has the heading of “Status of amateur radio satellite”
3.510MHz – Not allocated for satellite
10.100MHz – Not allocated for satellite
14.260MHz – Not allocated for satellite
29.100MHz – Primary use for satelliteSo, from coluum 3 (that shows satellite status), only 29.100MHz is available.
Does that make sense?

ParticipantPete,
I passed !!!! 24/26. Largely due to Essex Ham study.
Got a bit of an odd question regarding supervision.
Being supervised by G0ABC at 100w. The supervisor decides to get up and leave the room (going into a completely separate room). What should you do?
My answer was to terminate the contact immediately.
Another option was to finish off the current QS and then terminate. The other two options were Duff !
I opted for the first as in, terminate the contact immediately.
Looking at my test results, it appears I might have got this wrong.Thoughts?
Cheers

KeymasterHi Dave,
Congrats on the pass.
The syllabus states the following:
“Recall that only the licensee, or any other person operating under the licensee’s direct
supervision, may use the Radio Equipment. Recall that the call sign of the supervisor is
used to identify the station and operation is in accordance with the supervisor’s licence.”… so that’s what should be tested.
When the supervisor leaves the room, that ends the direct supervision. Technically, you could continue the QSO but using your own licence conditions, power and callsign. Otherwise, the contact can’t continue using the supervisor’s callsign and licence.
