New national map helps prospective radio amateurs find local training.
Essex Ham has today launched a new UK Amateur Radio Training and Exam Venue Finder, providing an up-to-date map of clubs and groups offering in-person amateur radio training across the UK.
The free interactive map has been created in response to the prolonged unavailability of the Radio Society of Great Britain’s (RSGB) official Course and Exam Finder, which has been offline for several weeks with no indication of when it will return. Even before it became unavailable, many tutors and students had commented that the official listing was incomplete and contained outdated information.
The new Essex Ham tool has been built using data gathered directly from clubs and tutors as part of the 2026 Essex Ham Tutor Survey, making it one of the most current sources of information available for anyone looking to gain an amateur radio licence.
The interactive map allows visitors to locate nearby clubs, see which licence levels they offer, and quickly visit club websites for further information.
The map currently includes dozens of clubs from across England, Scotland and Wales, with each listing showing the training available and links to the club’s website, where available. Clubs can also submit updates, ensuring the database continues to improve over time.
As well as supporting prospective students, Essex Ham hopes the new resource will increase the visibility of clubs that continue to invest significant volunteer time in delivering amateur radio training and examinations.
The Course & Exam Finder complements Essex Ham’s existing range of free Foundation training courses and online resources and will continue to be updated as more clubs provide information.

Clubs wishing to add or update their details are encouraged to submit an update via the website. Students who have attended a course are also invited to share feedback to help others choose the right training provider.
