Important message re. Foundation Online Course – Canvas Issue
Those who’ve tried to log on to Canvas (the course classroom) in the last couple of days will have noticed that there is a message saying that Canvas “Free For Teachers” is down at the moment. Essentially, it looks as if there has been an incident through malicious use of the system, resulting in Canvas suspending operation until it is sorted. There’s more on this on their site here
Obviously, this is affecting users worldwide, not just us, and there is nothing that we can do other than wait and keep checking their sites for updates. For those in the middle of study, the good news is that our material remains available in other formats:
Modules:
Each course module is freely available on YouTube – See Foundation Online YouTube Playlist
All of the course material is available in our Foundation Study Guide (paper, e-book and spoken audio) – See essexham.co.uk/train/foundation-study-guide/
Our Kindle version is already pretty reasonably priced at £2.99, but I have pushed through a price change to get this down to £1.99 temporarily, for those who want to access the material on a computer, phone, tablet or Kindle device. Price updates take a few hours, so check essexham.co.uk/redirect.php?id=fsgkindle for the price drop.
Mock tests:
These are obviously affected by the Canvas issue, so course mocks, plus paid mocks are unavailable.
- Free mock papers are available on the RSGB website
- We also have a book of 6 complete mock tests (paperback or e-book) – see essexham.co.uk/train/foundation-mock-tests-book/
- Although £2.99 for 6 mocks was already pretty cheap, we’ve requested that the Kindle price be dropped to £1.99 temporarily, for those who want to access these 6 mocks on a computer, phone, tablet or Kindle device. Price updates take a few hours, so check essexham.co.uk/redirect.php?id=fmtkindle
The Essex Ham / HamTrain site, FAQ and YouTube content are all unaffected.
We share everyone’s frustration that Canvas is currently down – fingers crossed it won’t be for long, but the good news is that all of the material and tests are available in other formats, so hopefully, training disruption can be kept at a minimum.
If anyone needs any material or assistance, please contact us here
Best regards,
Pete and the HamTrain team
