Quick Revision Video & Audio:

The following Quick Revision Video may be handy when studying. It doesn’t cover the entire syllabus, just some of the more difficult areas.

It was put together for those looking for a single video that covers some of the more tricky areas of the syllabus, in a fairly short package. Hopefully, you’ll find it useful:

Hints & Tips Video:

We’ve created a video covering some of the more important hints and tips for those taking their Foundation exam:

Just Passed? What’s Next?

If you’ve just passed your UK amateur radio Foundation exam, you might be wondering what happens next. How do you get your callsign? What sort of radio and antenna should you look at? How do you make that first contact? What else do you need to know? This short video answers some of the questions we’re often asked by brand-new Foundation licence-holders.

    Hi there,
Thanks to Pete and everyone else involved (although I believe Pete bears the weight of it pretty much by himself?).
I suppose a 1/3~1/4 of the way through the July 2018 course and finding it very helpful indeed!, along with my Foundation Now book which is always in my hands at the moment, this online foundation course is available via a web browser or a mobile app which means course material is available anytime and anywhere mobile phone signal permitting of course!

Have my exam booked on the 26th August and sincerely hope I’ll be ale to come back & thank Pete for helping me pass 😉

    Best Wishes, Andy

This course has been fantastic leaving my local club tutor free to concentrate on the practical side of the exam. As a result I am able to sit the exam far sooner than having to do the theory and practical at the same time. I now have only 2 practical test using an HF transceiver, which is schedualled soon. Thanks I sing you praises often.

Hmm. Thanks for providing a much-needed *free* resource.
But as nasty Microsoft has now removed their free PPT viewer (presumably in an attempt to force people to use/buy their products more), and the conversion service at : https://www.online-convert.com/ produces OpenOffice documents that have errors in them from your ppsx documents, would it be possible to convert all your presentation materials to a *free* format that all can use ? Such as OpenOffice ? Without incurring the sorts of problems that using Microsoft-only formats always causes ?
(Using OpenOffice you can still release a version of them uneditable by the user.)
    Thanks in advance.

      Hi Martin,

If your club’s interested in using our slide set, we can look at converting these to a format suitable for you. Please get in touch via “Contact us”, and we’ll send over a converted version for you to test.

    Dear Essex Ham,

I am impressed with the foundation online course material – well done!
Also I have just received a the foundation license manual book, which is a brilliant read.
I have filled in the course registration page, yet not heard back yet.

From your website I understand that the foundation course material will change.
When will the new course material be available and when am I able to take my foundation exam?

    Kind Regards,
    Peter

Hi Peter. The RSGB has recently changed the syllabus, meaning we have a lot of work to do to get our course ready. We’ll let you know when we’re able to offer our course.

Was Radar and Comms Tech when in the Royal Air Force, never thought about Ham Radio until a good friend in the legion suggested I should sit the Foundation exam and get myself a radio,

I’ve just completed module 3, and think the training program is excellent. I used to know all this stuff 26 years ago, so it’s a great refresher, and brings back fond memories of maintaining and using various piece of kit.

    Thank you
