This was conducted to assess the state of amateur radio training in the UK, with special emphasis on looking at ways to encourage and support clubs and amateur radio groups with their training.<\/p>\n<h3>Survey Results<\/h3>\n<p>A total of 107 responses were received, with 103 responses reporting their culb offered training.<\/p>\n<p>We asked how each club offers training, with the following responses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hands-on practical session: 82.24%<\/li>\n<li>One-to-one mentoring: 66.36%<\/li>\n<li>In a physical classroom, using slide presentations: 63.55%<\/li>\n<li>Individual support for students who are self-studying: 57.01%<\/li>\n<li>Study groups: 28.04%<\/li>\n<li>In a physical classroom without slide presentations: 21.50%<\/li>\n<li>Structured online course (with video conferencing): 19.63%<\/li>\n<li>Ad-hoc online training with video conferencing: 17.76%<\/li>\n<li>Exam only: 14.95%<\/li>\n<li>Structured online course (without video conferencing): 4.67%<\/li>\n<li>Other: 12.15%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We asked what would be helpful regarding training. Rated &#8220;Very important&#8221;:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Better promotion of amateur radio: 53%<\/li>\n<li>Additional content from RSGB: 38%<\/li>\n<li>Better RSGB club finder: 34.5%<\/li>\n<li>An online portal for tutors: 34%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What sort of support does your club\/group offer to newcomers who&#8217;ve just passed their entry-level exam?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Standard club activities (e.g. club nights): 81.31%<\/li>\n<li>Club activities aimed at newcomers: 66.36%<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring \/ &#8220;Buddy&#8221;
