Perhaps our videos or handouts can help<\/li>\n<li><strong>Struggle to learn from a book?<\/strong> Our course is interactive, with videos, guides and online tutor support.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Can&#8217;t find a local club to help?<\/strong> No problem &#8211; study with us online from your computer, tablet, laptop or phone<\/li>\n<li><strong>Best of all, our course is free, so you have nothing to lose!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The Foundation Online Course<\/h2>\n<p>Our online course is split into nine modules, each one with a full walkthrough of what you need to know for the syllabus, plus a short quiz at the end to help you make sure it&#8217;s all going in.<br \/>\nThe online Foundation course is supplemented by downloadable material, our optional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essexham.co.uk\/redirect.php?id=fsg\">course books<\/a>, comprehensive videos and training slides, and much of the content aligns with our popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essexham.co.uk\/train\/foundation-slides\/\">Foundation Training Slides<\/a>, as used by training groups across the UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upcoming courses:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><ul  class=\"eo-events eo-events-shortcode\"><li class=\"eo-event-future\">7th June 2026 <\/li><li class=\"eo-event-future\">5th July 2026 <\/li><li class=\"eo-event-future\">2nd August 2026 <\/li><\/ul><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Courses run for 3 weeks. If you need to start sooner, we have an <span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;on-demand&#8221;<\/span> option.<\/p>\n<h3>How does the course work?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Our course typically runs for three weeks (although a &#8220;fast track&#8221; option is available if you&#8217;re in a rush).<\/li>\n<li>The course is split into nine modules, and we release a new module every two or three days.<\/li>\n<li>The course lets you study when it&#8217;s suitable for you &#8211; no live lessons, and no need for a webcam.<\/li>\n<li>Each module contains a section-by-section breakdown of what you need to know for that module, and ends with a short quiz<\/li>\n<li>Each module also has a full video, so you can watch as we discuss the material and demonstrate how things work<\/li>\n<li>You can take the modules whenever you want over the 3 weeks, although we recommend 1-2 hours of study per week &#8211; at a time to suit you<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll be working in an online classroom with other students, and have the option to ask questions of the tutor and chat with other students<\/li>\n<li>At the end of the course, there&#8217;s a mock test, to see if you&#8217;d be ready to sit the actual exam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<table class=\"mid\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"https:\/\/www.essexham.co.uk\/train\/foundation-study-guide\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.essexham.co.uk\/images\/foundation-study-guide.png\" alt=\"Foundation Amateur Radio Study Guide\" width=\"100\" height=\"142\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><strong>Course book available! <\/strong>By popular request, we&#8217;ve now brought out our &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.essexham.co.uk\/redirect.php?id=fsg\">Foundation Study Guide<\/a>&#8221; &#8211; our online course material in book format.
