Baofeng UV-5RTP 8W Handheld Transceiver (3 replies)
I have the 5RTP and I'm very happy with it. Its my main 2M rig really. If you get one from ham goodies it will come pre programmed. Nothing bad to say about it but you will need to add a decent antenna. The rubber duck is useless. I use it with a huge diamond telescopic or 3 el yagi at home. Works great.

I ended up getting two Boafeng GT3 Mk III 8W with extended life batteries 3800mAh and improved SainSonic 2.15dBi Antenna, so they seem like quite professional units now - especially considering the price. I will be putting them through some riggerous testing in the next few weeks...

Hi everyone!
I am new to the group, but hopefully Pete will remember me as he helped to train me at CARS! :-)
Has anyone tested the 8W version of the UV-5 named UV-5RTP (Tri-Power), just wondering how it compares to the newer styled UV-B6 and the 5W version of the UV-5?
