Kenwood 251 display problem

Hi i have a problem with my kenwood 251 the display lights have stop working i have found out it is a known fault
i have checked the connection pins inside but no luck
just wondered if anyone has come across this problem
and could shed some light for me

Hi
I have just looked at the circuit for the 251. It appears that the display is lit by 2 lamps connected in series.These lamps are 3volt ,60ma.If faulty they can be replaced by LED's with a suitable series resistor.Also check the lamp switch and Q2 the lamp driver.

many thanks for the advice i will check that out i have got to get the radio out of my van to programme some repeaters into it so will take a look then
